Alcohol addiction, also referred to as alcoholism affects a whole spectrum of people from many different backgrounds and walks of life. It is a real illness in that it changes the chemistry of your brains reward system, leading you to believe that you need alcohol in order to experience any kind of joy or satisfaction from life. The reality of the illness is that very little joy outside of drinking exists for the alcoholic.

- Drinking alcohol at unusual times of the day, first thing in the morning for example.
- Drinking alone, being less sociable, maybe a change of friends, associating with other drinkers.
- Increased low self-esteem and depression
- Increase in frequency of drinking or strength of alcohol you’re drinking
- Avoiding contact with loved ones.
- Needing alcohol to function and go about your normal daily activities

Can hypnotherapy help me?
Hypnotherapy can be a very successful approach to dealing with any kind of addiction. The reason for that is that it can help re-wire our brains association with drinking, so we see it for what it is.
Alcohol addiction is not easy to overcome, there will be set backs and struggles with any kind of recovery from addiction. The benefits of hypnotherapy are significant though as they address the very roots of the problem that caused you to drink in the first place, stress, depression, trauma, grief, divorce, low self- esteem etc.
By working on the very roots of the problem, we are learning coping strategies along with changing our perception of alcohol use, so effectively attacking the disease from every angle.
